Joint trip of the delegation of the International Belt Wrestling Federation and the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan to the martial arts competitions in the United Arab Emirates

On January 23-24, 2024, a delegation from the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan, together with the International Belt Wrestling Federation, participated in martial arts competitions in the United Arab Emirates (hereinafter referred to as the UAE test). Within the framework of these competitions, a number of meetings were held with Abu Dhabi sports and government leaders:

- Mohamed Al Mubarak - President of the UAE Wrestling Federation, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, Chairman of Aldar Properties, His Excellency is Chairman of Miral Asset Management,

- Sheikh Hamdan Bin Saeed Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan - Secretary General of the UAE Wrestling Federation,

- Talal Al Hashemi is a member of the Board of the UAE Wrestling Federation, and representatives of Egypt, Qatar and other Arab countries.

During the negotiations, it was agreed that the sports teams of the UAE and several Arab countries will take part in competitions - the International Belt Wrestling Tournament in memory of the great Tatar scientist, educator, Imam Shigabutdin Marjani, which is scheduled to be held on May 14-17, 2024 within the framework of the international economic forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KAZANFORUM" on the site of the International the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center.

The program of the martial arts competitions also included master classes and demonstration performances in belt wrestling by representatives of the Republic of Tatarstan, Honored Masters of Sports of Russia:

- Suleymanov Gabdyzhalil Barievich – eight-time world champion, silver medalist of the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013

- Zakirov Ilnar Albertovich - five-time world champion

- Alexey Mikhailovich Abramov - three-time world champion, European champion

- Timur Rafaelevich Latipov – two-time world champion, European champion

and also fights in the Arab traditional belt wrestling.

As a result of the negotiations, representatives of the UAE expressed a desire to bring athletes in traditional Arab belt wrestling to the Republic of Tatarstan for demonstration performances at an international tournament within the framework of the international economic forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KAZANFORUM".
