From September 3 to 8, 2016, the World Nomad Games were held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, Issyk-Kul region. The Games, which are considered an analogue of the Olympic Games, hosted sports competitions in 23 types of ethnosport. The VIC-2016 program also included martial arts, including alysh (belt wrestling), Kyrgyz kuresh, Kazakhsha kuresh, Turkmen wrestling goresh, Azerbaijani wrestling gulesh, Turkish wrestling aba guresh, in which belt wrestling athletes took part.
KAZAK KURESH:
On September 4, the Kazakh Quresh competition among men within the framework of the World Nomad Games ended. The competitions were held in the sports and recreation complex of the city of Cholpon–Ata.
58 athletes from 17 countries took part in the competition. 20 medals were awarded: 5 gold , 5 silver and 5 medals each for bronze places.

On September 6, the winners of the Turkish national wrestling "Aba Guresh" among men within the framework of the II World Nomad Games became known in the Sports and Recreation Complex of Cholpon-Ata.
14 athletes from 8 countries took part in the fight, such as Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Syria, Belarus, Russia, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan. Turkish wrestling includes only one weight category over 80 kg.
